Today\\u2019s guest got pregnant with twins in Summer 2019 and had a healthy pregnancy until the 3rd trimester. They began telling her that Baby B was smaller than Baby A, but nothing to be concerned about as they were in two separate placentas and not sharing nutrition. Dominique Timmons had her 34th week appointment with the Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist and they suggested that she schedule her C-section for April 1, 2020. Then COVID happened and shut down everything where she had to go to doctors appointments alone. She went to her 35th week appointment and the doctor suggested steroid shots to strengthen the baby\'s lungs and to come back the next day
for another round of shots. The doctor fell silent during the ultrasound and her husband was on facetime in the lobby knowing something was wrong. He asked the doctor if he could come back and the doctor said yes. The doctor broke the news that Baby B, their daughter Drew, heart stopped beating and she died. In this episode, Dominique takes
us on the journey of extreme grief and extreme joy while she celebrates one baby and loses another on the same day.

I was honored with the opportunity to attend the State of the Union as a guest of my Congressman Donald McEachin. Yes, you read right last Tuesday, February 4, 2020 I traveled to Washington, D.C. to attend the most controversial SOTU we have seen. Imagine being in the room where you can cut the tension with a knife of a sitting president who has been impeached and is attempting to convince the American people to reelect him for another 4 years. I loved every minute of the politics and pomp and circumstance. This episode I take you on that journey with me to DC to the Capitol and what I learned about sowing seeds and reaping the harvest.

Have you heard of the term Incompetent Cervix? or Trans Abdominal Cerclage?
An\\xa0incompetent cervix, also called a\\xa0cervical\\xa0insufficiency, occurs when weak\\xa0cervical\\xa0tissue causes or contributes to premature birth or the loss of an otherwise healthy pregnancy.\\xa0
In a\\xa0transabdominal cerclage\\xa0procedure, a gynecologic surgeon makes an incision in the lower abdomen near the bikini line. Through this\\xa0transabdominal\\xa0incision, the surgeon places a small, woven synthetic band high on the cervix. The band supports the cervix, preventing it from opening and losing the pregnancy.
Today\'s guest has experienced a diagnosis of an incompetent cervix twice with the loss of her first daughter in 2017 and second daughter in 2018. Vu-An Foster is the founder of Life After Two Losses and Recurrent Pregnancy Loss and Incompetent Cervix Advocate. After her losses she shares in this episode her decision for in advance of another pregnancy to receive a transabdominal cerclage to prevent her cervix from opening and losing another baby in the future. This episode is for you to listen to if you have had recurrent miscarriages in the 2nd trimester and have received a transvaginal cerclage or considering a transabdominal cerclage.
