Censorship in the Mental Health Industry

Published: Oct. 18, 2020, 4 a.m.

This is a really atypical episode. I made this suddenly after the events that unfolded earlier today. I was removed from a private anxiety Facebook group for posting too much about the negative effects of meditation; mostly in the comment sections of posts regarding meditation. I understand the general theme of the group is to help each other get over fear, however, I cannot stress the importance of the negative effects of meditation as being someone myself who suffered from such severe consequences.  The name of the group and podcast is called The Anxious Truth. It is not run by professionals of psychology, therapy, etc. but nor is this podcast. I just wish that they would mention that they are not giving professional advice, because it makes me concerned that people are telling each other what to do in an unsupervised group (unsupervised in terms of not monitored by professional psychologists or therapists). And that is precisely the reason I start out all the episodes the way in which I do, so people are informed that I am not a professional. Just be wary of where you are getting your information from, even in terms of this podcast, because it may make things worse.  Donate: https://www.patreon.com/sumoflife --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/liam-scully/support
