Well, what kind of 'shit sandwich' are you willing to eat when it comes to doing stuff with little kids?
Are you will to clean up the mess when they paint, cook, have a bath.. pretty much do anything?
Also are you will for that sandwich to include your human/imperfect reaction to it? frustration, yelling? That is part of the deal when it comes to little kids. You can accept that and you will be that much calmer and nicer to your kids and yourself when that happens.
