What is your relationship with "worry"?

Everyone has worry but do you let it take you away or do you not take it as seriously?

The best thing I learned from Brooke Castillo is that worry pretends to be necessary but really is the most useless emotion . It does not to prevent the bad things from happening. It does not predict the future correctly.

It does not prepare you for the bad things .

It just creates the bad feeling BEFORE the 'bad' thing happens.

Worry is your brain saying  "I know what the future we be- it will be bad - so you better prepare for it by feeling bad now.” Makes no sense

Pema Chodron says “Whatever you think the future will be - it will be different”.

So here’s my relationship with worry - I don’t believe it.
I see it as this friend of mine who is always worried and never for a good reason and I just don’t want to spend time with her. She’s always worried and I don’t think she’s always right. So when worry comes up I always recognize it and as soon as I recognize it I realize it is just a bunch of nonsense I don’t need to get involved in.  Recognizing it helps me detach from it/ believe it less.

Of course there are time when I have to work harder at leaving the worry state but it’s so practiced now that simply recognizing us is enough to detach.

So I wanted to offer this to you- what is your relationship with worry?
Do you let it spin you out ?

Do you believe it? Do you believe it is right? Do you have a worry habit ?

My friend needs a worry free diet. Do you?

It saves a lot of suffering when you don’t take it seriously and you get good and not taking it seriously.

So if you have worries about your son or his future- how can your worry be wrong about him and his future ?

Worry is just a prediction that he will have a terrible future - or something will go wrong. But it’s just one of a hundred different scenarios that could play out for him. Your worry could totally be wrong. So then worrying and feeling bad now will be a total waste.

Don’t let worry waste your emotions and time imagining the future that sucks. That hasn’t even happened yet.
