Helpful Listening

Sometimes when we listen we really want to help and if the other person is not ready to be helped then it is not useful.  Listening without having an opinion or without good intentions can be extremely helpful sometimes when a person needs to process what they are going through. As humans it is sometimes extremely hard to do because we love people and want to help them. Knowing when to listen and not help is so impactful on your relationship with anyone and especially with your boy.  There's always time to parent and offer your opinions and advice. There is no rush. Slow down and ask 'what do you want to do', 'are you ready to move on or do you need to talk about this more?'. Just these simple powerful questions can help you and the person so much. Listen as i give my own person examples of giving and receiving this 'listening'.
