#20 Re-program your subconscious mind so you can actually see results in fitness|| Part 1

The Reason You can't rely on will power alone is because will power comes from the conscious mind and our mind is like an iceberg. About 10% of your brain is for decision making, willpower, reading, doing tasks, etc. And while you definitely need to feel motivated and take action consistently in order to reach your goals your conscious mind is only the tip of the iceberg that is your mind. The other 90% of your brain is subconscious, that's the deep side of yourself, it's where your beliefs live. 

Your Subconscious mind is where you form your identity. In order to create and maintain a positive change in your body, your first have to shift your identity. You have to see yourself as a fit person, you have to visualize and take action from the place where you want to be, not where you currently are. Ask yourself how does your most fit, confident, hot, athletic, flexible, self shows up? Decide what it means to feel your best then you can begin to be that way. 

Identity is formed by several different lifetime processes and is something  I don't consider myself a true expert in so please take my opinion on this with a grain of salt and do your own research. I studied psychology for a few semesters in college and since then I've kept up with my own studies. A few books I've read that speak on this are "The Body Keeps The Score" by Bessel van der Kolk M.D., "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen Covey and "The Power Of Habit" by Charles Duhigg, "The Power of Now' by Ekhart Tolle and I just recently completed a 3-day workshop specifically on how to reprogram the subconscious mind through Manifestation Babe and I wanted to share my take on it from a Personal Trainer's perspective. 

I think as we evolve together as people it's important to have conversations that matter I think this is one that should be had. We should all being to understand ourselves on a deeper level so we can all make the world a better place. And that starts with treating yourself well every step of the way. I've learned over the year fitness is mostly a mental game. Training your mindset is part of training your body. I say keep showing up for yourself and do what it takes to become your highest version, repetition is the way to master your self and your body, learn to fall gracefully so you can get back up quickly because life is supposed to be fun. And When you feel at peace in your mind and happy with your body life gets even better. It's never been about fixing yourself, only about becoming more who you are!
