Tom Stern is a Lecturer in Philosophy at University College London, where he is also the Academic Director of the European Social and Political Studies programme. Before starting at UCL, he studied at Cambridge and at the University of Chicago. His research interests include Nietzsche and aesthetics. As regards Nietzsche, he has written a number of articles exploring various candidates for a positive ethics in Nietzsche’s philosophy. As regards aesthetics, his book – Philosophy and Theatre (Routledge) – is forthcoming in 2013. This podcast is an audio recording of Tom's talk - "Nietzsche, Amor Fati and The Gay Science" - at the Aristotelian Society on 21 January 2013. The recording was produced by Backdoor Broadcasting Company in conjunction with the Institute of Philosophy, University of London.
