Rachel Halverson: How to Increase Blood Sugar Predictability During Your Menstrual Cycle

Published: Jan. 30, 2021, 1:32 a.m.

Rachel has been living with type 1 diabetes for 23 years and she is an RN, CDCES and Coach for women living with type 1 diabetes using an approach that helps promote hormone health which in turn make blood sugar management a lot easier and more predictable. A big focus of Rachel's is educating on the impact menstrual cycle hormones have on blood sugars and she specializes in helping women with type 1 diabetes. Her interest in women's health as it relates to diabetes started after overcoming a longgggg period of burnout. (she was sitting through lectures in nursing school and had a bit of an AHA moment).

She lives with her long-term partner who also lives with T1D and he's been inspirational in showing her that she can live with tight control pretty easily. However, living with a male T1D also showed her how much easier they have it in regards to lack of hormone fluctuations (he really doesn't have to consider all the things us women do when it comes to monthly cycles!) Oh, and Rachel also eats a plant based diet!
