Self Myofascial Release In this short video I will explain where emotional releases come from with myofascial release in yoga or with myofascial release techniques. If you have ever found yourself crying in a yoga class or angry at the world after a seemingly peaceful yoga experience this short video will explain emotional release and myofascial release. In this video I explain how our experiences including our emotions get stored in our body and specifically in our fascial system. Then I will explain how the pulling and pressurizing of the myofascia using myofascial techniques or during yoga releases emotions. In this article I am going to explain that a little further. Maybe you love searching for the deep inner meaning in your yoga practice, but still want to feel a sense of safety and security. Maybe you´ve been practicing yoga or myofascial release for a while and you´ve had an experience where you had a great yoga practice and then later you experienced yourself angry and frustrated and these feelings of irritation seemed to come out of nowhere. Maybe you were doing a yoga pose or some myofascial release and out of nowhere some tears of unexplained grief came forward. Maybe you find yourself filled with worry or feeling overly sensitive. No matter what your experience wouldn´t it be nice to understand more deeply that saying, ¨the issues are in the tissues?¨ I have been offering myofascial release to our members in our membership community using balls and foam rollers since 2013. This May we will be celebrating Myofascial May with Myofascial release classes in our membership community. Not one single cell is not connected. Its elastic and liquid like structure delivers energy and information through its own nervous system. Fascia visually expresses how we think and feel. It holds our past experiences, our attitudes, our movement patterns, our behaviours. Our upbringing physically, mentally, emotionally and energetically is all expressed through our fascia. It is our fascia which determines the shapes our body can make. Our fascia is a good indicator of the current suffering and confusion we are experiencing as human beings. Any experience that we have that we unconsciously label it as problematic or painful; without even thinking about it we withdraw from it, try to get away from it and evade the experience. We do so by literally tensing up our bodies. This tension is everywhere in our body, our bones, muscles, right down to our cells - the fascia that holds all these systems together. Tensing is a way of avoiding experience, whether that discomfort is physical or psychological. Tension is our human way of closing down to experience and shutting down our awareness. When we experience physical restrictions in our fascia we can end up feeling mentally, emotionally and energetically restricted. We may feel frustrated like we are stuck and no matter how hard we try, we just can not move forward. It may feel like we cannot connect in a meaningful way with ourselves or others in our lives. If we are feeling stiff and rigid in our body our expression mentally and emotionally will be stiff and rigid. So when we practice yoga or myofascial release techniques we begin to pull and pressurize the tissues and feelings, emotions, thoughts, ideas, beliefs that have been held in the tissues get released. This is why we can find ourselves angry and frustrated for no apparent reason or crying tears of grief in a yoga class. It is all completely normal. So you let those emotions flow and you don't have to jud...
