The Death Trap

3 Levels of Death Trap

Level 1: Drifting

(Hebrews 11:24-25) (ASB) By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh\'s daughter; choosing rather to share ill treatment with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

(Luke 21:34) “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap.”

Level 2: Deception

(John 5:39) (MSG) You have your heads in your Bibles constantly because you think you’ll find eternal life there. But you miss the forest for the trees. These Scriptures are all about me! And here I am, standing right before you and you aren’t willing to receive from me the life you say you want.

(Revelation 3:1-2) “I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead. Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your deeds complete in the sight of my God.”

Level 3: Dying

(2 Corinthians 1:8-9) “We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life. Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death.”

How do I avoid the death trap?

Avoid the death trap by:

1. Renewing your vision for life.

(Philippians 3:13-14) “Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

2. Making a decision to live.

(Deuteronomy 30:19) “This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.”

(John 16:33) (NLT) Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

3. Exposing the enemies of life.

(Hebrews 12:1) “…let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”

4. Protecting life with accountability.

(Ecclesiastes 4:8-9) “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!”

5. Sustaining life by living for God.

(Romans 8:13-14) “For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live,

(1 Corinthians 15:55) (NLT) “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”

(1 Corinthians 15:57) (NLT) But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.
