In today’s episode I am speaking with Dr. Uma Naidoo, whose fascinating research continues to shed light on a very important connection: the impact our diet has on our mental and emotional health. Dr. Uma Naidoo is a Harvard-trained psychiatrist and nutrition expert, who is also trained as a chef, and is currently the Director of Nutritional Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital and the author of the upcoming book, This Is Your Brain On Food.

My conversation with Dr. Naidoo highlights many interesting facts related to the gut-brain connection, but here are some of the key takeaways:

  • What we eat affects not only our bodies, but also our mental and emotional health.
  • Foods like fruit, veggies, beans, nuts, legumes and whole grains can have a positive impact on our gut health, as do prebiotic and probiotic foods.
  • Healthy living means starting your day in a way which allows you to connect with your spiritual center so that you can find joy and gratitude in your life.
