My Thoughts Monday #38-Jay DeMayo, University of Richmond- Let’s Not Make Our Pyramids Trapezoids

“What we don’t know is if building a bigger base is if building a bigger base is actually going to allow the pyramid to be higher, or if all we’re doing is building a bigger base and making it go from a triangle or a pyramid, to a trapezoid.”

In this weeks My Thoughts Monday I share a conversation we recently had with our interns about planning and building form the general to the specific. For as long as I’ve been coaching we have looked at it as a triangle or pyramid where we talk about building the base to be able to have a taller peak where the specific occurs. We also, as a profession, discuss how we typically don’t touch the specific because that’s the game. So with that in mind I share an idea we have about how we can look at “specific” slightly differently, and hopefully drive our training a bit better and smoother.
