My Thoughts Monday #161- Jay DeMayo- Does Our Mission Match THE Mission?

Published: Nov. 2, 2020, 5 a.m.

“If winning is what is the goal then your metrics need to show you’re improving that likelihood.”

“If the experience of the young people is the primary objective, we need to provide them with a positive experience, and if the things that we maybe have been taking away, because we feel like they don’t impact performance, actually drive the positive experience, then maybe those things should go back in.”

“Are we following the mission of what the department has, or are we following the mission of what we think it should be?”

This My Thoughts Monday is brought to you by Vald Performance. Vald’s constant drive to help coaches find better information to drive more educated directions is second to none. Check out this weeks Metric Minute and make sure to go check out all their great products at: www.valdperformance.com

Conversations are consistently had where strength coaches talk with each other about how “sport coaches don’t get it” or “admin has no idea” when it comes to what we do and why we do things. In this weeks My Thoughts Monday I try to put the shoe on the other foot and talk about how possibly we may be going at things incorrectly because we are not following the mission statement of the department.
