In this weeks episode of The Podcast I get the opportunity to sit down and talk about the idea of sport specific training with Mike Boyle. This has been a bit of a “hot topic” on his instagram based off his 1:00 monologues that he is doing daily. Coach Boyle talks about what he see’s sports specific training is and what his problem is with it, where he sees training and how his needs analysis drives his training, and the idea of the “90%” of training. Mike then discusses where he sees the role of education as a coach and where the idea of looking for people who do the exact opposite of what you do, or at least don’t think similarly to you, and reevaluate some of your thinking. We finish off talking about what are some things that he has changed of late when it comes to “filling buckets” and how he sees sprinting and speed work now.
