Published: Dec. 12, 2017, 9 a.m.

“It’s the thought process, rather than the tech, that will help people make those decisions around the endurance, the fatigue, sprint athlete, the high intensity athlete.”

In today’s edition of The Podcast Arsenal Football Club’s Ben Ashworth joins us to discuss the research he has been part of with looking at the shoulder. After a brief intro Ben starts out discussing what is going on at the club now, and how the international fortnight will impact how they handle the players with club. We then touch upon what they have been looking at for the past 4 years with evaluating their athletes. This leads into his work with force plates, and how that has lead him to some new research.

Ben breaks down where the idea of looking at the shoulder came from.
He then shares with us what they looked at, how this test could possibly work with training, and why they picked the tests they did. We finish off talking about how the test could show differences in overuse type issues (pitchers/swimmers) vs collision injuries (football/rugby).
