b'In this talk, we’ll briefly introduce the opening characters of the story in Genesis and then take a deeper dive into the call of Abraham.
We’ll briefly remind people of the story so far:
God created us to thrive in a healthy and whole relationship with Him, with each other, with ourselves and with creation.
We rejected God and choose our own way and as a result, all those four relationships are broken - and we cannot fix it
But God refuses to abandon and reject us and has a plan to rescue us and restore us back to wholeness in relationship with Him, with each other, with ourselves and with creation.
God chooses a people (the Jewish people) through whom His Son Jesus will eventually come and bring about that rescue and restoration.
God chooses a man, Abram, to be the father of that nation (over 4,000 years ago). We pick up the beginning of the story in today’s reading.
What would you do if you had a divine encounter that resulted in an invitation to leave everything you know and step into the unknown? High risk, but amazing reward (for you, and all who are to come!)
Key Scriptures: Genesis 12:1-9'
