As we further our discussion of Queer Chosen Family films, we couldn’t pass up the chance to discuss Sean Baker’s controversial 2015 film “Tangerine” during the holiday season. The film stars Kitana Kiki Rodriguez and Mya Taylor as two California trans sex workers on Christmas Eve. The film is largely noted for being shot entirely on the iPhone 5s and the performances and portrayals of transgender characters.
