As we continue exploring Queer Chosen Family films and how they intersect with classic holiday films, nothing tops Todd Hayne’s 2015 melodrama, “Carol”. The film stars Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara in a love story based on the 1952 novel, “The Price of Salt” by Patricia Highsmith. The film received multiple Academy Award nominations and in 2016, the British Film Institute named ‘Carol’ the best LGBT film of all time.
