After an intense meal with a group of Pharisees and scribes that included Jesus pronouncing judgements on both groups, we are told that the Pharisees and scribes wanted to provoke Jesus, and that they were lying in wait in order to catch him. With this meal, really this confrontation, fresh in their minds, Jesus turns his attention to his disciples to prepare them to press on in the midst of great opposition by way of warning them about some of the dangers they will face. These warnings from our Savior are just as important for the church today for we face the same dangers.
