Persecution flares up in earnest in Jerusalem and the apostle James is imprisoned and killed, followed by Peter’s arrest and imprisonment. While it would appear that Herod is in control and able to do as he wishes, God will show that his control is absolute even when it appears that evil prospers. When our faith puts us at odds with the world, we must remember that God remains the Sovereign of the universe and will hold all accountable for their actions.

1. God’s silence (vs. 1-4)
2. God’s rescue (vs. 5-11)
3. Our doubt (vs. 12-17)
4. God’s justice (vs.18-23)
5. God’s victory (vs. 24-25)
