Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1855 of our Trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. So we are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before.

Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today’s trek as we increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A16andversion=NLT (Proverbs 16:16) How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver! If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:

Today’s quote is from Thomas Merton, and it is: A tree gives glory to God by being a tree. For in being what God means it to be, it is obeying Him...The more a tree is like itself, the more it is like Him.
Be What God Designed You To Be

God does expect us to utilize the talents and abilities that He has given to us to our full potential. However, God does not expect us to fulfill what others may have for us. God does not expect a bush to become a tree. God does not expect a bird to become a rabbit. If we judge a fish by his ability to climb a tree, he would be incapable of doing so, and would die trying. But if we judge a fish by their swimming ability, we would see that they do pretty well. The same applies to each individual in humankind. We all have a unique set of God-given talents and abilities. As imagers of God, he does expect us to live fully manifest what He has given us personally, but not what He may have provided to another imager. Therefore, comparing ourselves to others can be deceiving or devastating.

On the other hand, comparing ourselves to who we were yesterday can be exhilarating. Let us measure ourselves according to God’s standard found in His Word. Let us be on the path of continual improvement as we become more like Jesus Christ, the only perfect imager.

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.
