Set Your GPS for the Correct Destination – Meditation Monday

Wisdom - the final frontier to true knowledge.  Welcome to Wisdom-Trek! Where our mission is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend, I am Guthrie Chamberlain, your captain on our journey to increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy.  Thank you for joining us today as we explore wisdom on our 2nd millennium of podcasts. This is Day 1074 of our Trek, and it is time for Meditation Monday.  Taking time to relax, refocus, and reprioritize our lives is crucial in order to create a living legacy.  For you, it may just be time alone for quiet reflection.  You may utilize structured meditation practices. In my life meditation includes reading and reflecting on God’s Word, and in prayer.  It is a time, to renew my mind, refocus on what is most important, and making sure that I am nurturing my soul, mind, and body.  As you come along with me on our trek each Meditation Monday, it is my hope and prayer that you too will experience a time for reflection and renewing of your mind.

A compass or GPS unit can be very valuable, if you know how to use it.  In our Meditation Monday today I want us to reflect on:
Set Your GPS For The Correct Destination

The problem is not that God has not spoken, it is that we are not listening.  You might be thinking, when has God spoken?

Imagine that you opened a cookbook and proclaimed, now I know how to set my GPS for my vacation destination or business trip.  While a cookbook may give you directions for making a great cake, it will do you no good for directions for traveling in a car.  That is not the purpose of a cookbook.

Only by understanding its purpose can I accurately use the cookbook for something useful.  In the same manner, only by understanding its purpose can I accurately use the Bible.  Its purpose is to teach you the way to go in life.

The purpose of the Bible is simply to proclaim God’s plan to save his children. It asserts that man is lost and needs directions in order to be saved. The Bible is our GPS for life.  It communicates the message that Jesus is the God in the flesh sent to provide directions on how his children are to be saved.Though the Bible was written over the span of sixteen centuries by at least forty authors, it has one central theme—salvation through faith in Christ. The redemption story began through the directions given to Adam and Eve.  It continues to Noah on building the Ark.  It then was handed to Abraham by giving him directions to a land that was not his yet.  It then passed onto Moses leading the entire nation of Israel through the lonely desert of Arabia.  In the New Testament if continued through the Apostles and finished by John on the lonely Isle of Patmos.  All those directions were held together by a strong thread: God’s passion and God’s plan to save his children.  To provide them directions to heaven.

What a vital truth! Understanding the purpose of the Bible is like setting the GPS to the correct destination. Set those directions correctly and you’ll journey safely. If you fail to set your life’s direction according to God’s Word who knows where you’ll end up.

As we are told in Psalm 119:105

Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my pathThat is a wrap for today’s meditation, next week we will continue our trek on Meditation Monday as we take time to reflect on what is most important in creating our living legacy.  On tomorrow’s trek, we will explore another wisdom quote.  This 3-minute wisdom supplement will assist you in becoming healthy,
