Lamentations: “The Lord Has Destroyed Without Pity”

In this lesson we move forward in chapter two, where this book starts to detail the effect of the judgment of God upon the remnant that remain. The emphasis in chapter two seems to be laid upon the very hand of God in the calamities which they were groaning under. 

The grief is not so much that these unspeakable things are being done to them, it is much more severe because it was that God, Himself had done this to them, that he appears so very angry with them. It is He that severely chastens them, and chastens them in wrath and in His great displeasure.

 Chapter two could be titled “The Lord Has destroyed Without Pity”, as it is a doleful lament of the effects of the severe judgement of God upon the remnant of Judah. Let's begin...
