Joshua: The Ark Of The Covenant Leads Israel Across The Jordan River

Published: Feb. 27, 2019, 1:38 p.m.

As their new leader under God, Joshua tells the people, "Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do amazing things among you."

Joshua says to the priests, "Take up the ark of the covenant and pass on ahead of the people."

And the LORD said to Joshua, "Today I will begin to exalt you in the eyes of all Israel, so they may know that I am with you as I was with Moses.

We continue our study as the people brake camp to cross the Jordan River. The priests, carrying the Ark of the Covenant, went ahead of them. Understanding that the Ark of the Covenant is emblematic of Jesus Christ as our sin bearer, we see why it was to go before the people to cross over to the entrance of the Promised Land.

Further, we'll see that God promises to exalt Joshua among the Israelites in The Land, again as a type of Jesus Christ, Who would in the future be exalted as the Leader under God, The Father, among His people.
