Ecclesiastes: Solomon's Research On The Meaning Of Morality and Philosophies

 In this lesson we continue studying Solomon's research and documentation seeking to define the meaning of the human condition.  In this part, we examine Solomon's research on personal morality and its true meaning in our lives.  We also learn God's thoughts about various and vain philosophies.

Scripture has made clear in many other places that we should work to keep our name – our personal reputation – in this life spotless. For Christians who are the Lord’s property and profess His name, how we carry ourselves in In this world directly reflects our God’s reputation.

Man’s wrong conclusions and philosophies in his ignorance, without God’s word in His heart are then guided by his own ignorance, prejudices and false premises. This too plays a very large role in how our "name" is perceived. It is a big part of the reputation we build for ourselves among men.

Solomon finds that Keeping a good name is like – or even better than - a precious ointment. With such a comparison given, let’s allow the writings of the Ecclesiastes to help us really understand the meaning of a high moral character and the correct philosophical point of view in context of God's desire for those He designed and made to carry His image on the earth...
