The Exodus from Egypt is accomplished. Israel is free, now being led under Moses as they begin their journey through the open desert.

The next milestone event is the giving of the Ten Commandments, the moral law and the entering of the covenant with God at Mount Sinai.  The covenant is ratified and administered under the terms of the law, as given through Moses. The Exodus and the forging of the covenant under the law transition the flow of time from the dispensation of Promise into that of the Law.
