We begin this lesson with a detailed look at the poetic structure of the book of Proverbs. We examine this structure, recognizing that in Hebrew poetry, words do not necessarily rhyme, but it is how the the ideas interface and thread together in them that rhyme.

We examine the main structural devices used in the writing of the book: Titled contrasting, completive and comparative, these devices drive home a main point by using a sharply contrasting, vitally agreeing or analogous statement to help convey the full meaning and deeper intent of the proverb itself.
