Retired Maj. Jo Ann Schedler’s family was fighting in wars long before the U.S. military existed. This is one reason the nurse joined the U.S. Army Reserve later in life, served 20 years and six months, and eventually co-founded the Mohican Veterans group. Schedler lives in Gresham and shared her experience with her husband, Jon, as part of StoryCorps’ Military Voices Initiative, which is made possible by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
