This is Dr. MaryAnn Diorio, novelist and life coach, welcoming you to another episode of Winning with the Word. Today is Monday, September 13, 2021, and this is Episode #32 of Series 2021. This episode is titled “God Loves You!" _______________________________ Has anyone ever told you that God loves you? If not, I want to tell you now. God loves you! But let's take a closer look at what this means. When I meditate on Scripture, I like to take a passage and emphasize one word at a time to extract its deeper meaning. So, let's do that now with the sentence "God loves you!" When we put the emphasis on the first word, the sentence reads like this: GOD loves you! Well, who is God, and why does it make a difference that it's GOD Who loves you and not someone else? The reason it makes a difference--and a huge difference--is that God is the One Who created you. He is the One Who loves you more than anyone else. He is the One Who knows you from the inside out. In fact, this is how the Bible describes God's knowledge of you in Psalm 139: 13-18 NLT: "You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God! They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, You are still with me!" So, we can see from this passage that when I say that it is God Who loves you, this is a big deal. Why? Because God loves you even though He knows everything about you. He knows both the good and the bad, yet He loves you anyway. God doesn't love you based on your performance. God loves you based on your worth to Him. And He Himself gave you that worth. So, don't look to anyone or anything for your sense of worth. You won't find it anywhere except in God. One of the biggest lies of all time is that your worth comes from another person or from what you do. Believing this lie results in things like one's marrying the wrong person or becoming a workaholic at one's job. When we believe the lie that our worth comes from another person or from our performance, we feel as though we are never enough. We feel as though we will never measure up. Why? Because no person and no job can measure our true worth. Only God can. And He already has. How do we know? Just look at the Cross. God is saying to you now, "Stop measuring your worth by what you do. It's not what you do that gives you worth; it's the fact that I made you that gives you worth. Your worth is a given. You were born with it, and no one can ever take it away from you." Now let's emphasize the second word in our sentence: God LOVES you!  What does it mean that God LOVES you? It means that He wants only your good and your well-being. When you love someone, you desire the best for that person. So it is with God.
