b'In Luke 2:34-35 Simeon said of Jesus that He was "desitined to cause the fall and rise of many in the house of Israel." For all that Simeon\'s words could mean one thing is certain: the inclusion of Gentile people (anyoe other than a Jew) into God\\u2019s love, reign and righteousness is a major new departure for the Jews and especially for the religious leaders and teachers. Add that on top of the fact that this Jesus Messiah-King would not look, act, think or talk like the religious folks of the day expected or wanted. It could be said that in many ways this Jesus did not live up to the expectations of the religiously informed, both common religious folk and formally-trained religious folk.It could be said that in many ways this Jesus still doesn\\u2019t live up to the expectations of todays common religious folk and formally-trained religious folk. Could it mean that though Jesus can somehow fit inside of our hearts He will not fit inside of our preferences, idealogies or expectations? What would that mean for us in a practical way? Or could it just mean something else all together?'
