We all want newness at this time of year. New stuff for Christmas and a new start in the new year. And it's a pity all this newness quickly gets old. The new stuff becomes used and tossed aside. And the new start is not really a 'start' at all, but another repeat of what's come before. And we're reminded the only real promise of newness comes in the gospel. Thanks to Jesus, we are promised a renewal and restoration that will last forever. New heavens, new earth, new bodies, new relationship, new everything. What a fantastic reminder to transition us from the end of one year and into the next.
