Our Journey Together: Sent Together as Disciples

Published: Sept. 8, 2019, 11:33 p.m.

b'Why does Wellspring Church exist? To make disciples of Jesus through the Gospel. Plain and simple. That’s not so radical or cutting edge or different. It is straightforward from the Bible. Jesus told His disciples (and the church moving forward) in Matthew 28:19, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.” If we want to be followers of Jesus, we can’t decide this is too taxing or difficult or time-consuming. We can’t say to Jesus, “Jesus, you don’t know how hard it is to disciple THESE people” (remember Jesus’ disciples, Peter who denied Jesus in his greatest time of need DESPITE promising he will fight to the death for him, Judas who betrayed him for a small amount of money, James and John who were fighting WHILE Jesus was standing right there as to who is the greatest, Thomas doubting Jesus after the resurrection, etc.). No, we can’t say, “Jesus, you don’t understand HOW difficult it is to disciple THESE people” to Jesus.
To follow Jesus is to disciple others and to be discipled. This month is a month we will be spending together exploring Our Journey Together. And today we will be focusing on specifically Discipleship at Wellspring, the practical outworking of discipleship here is Discipleship Groups. I am praying that you open your ears and heed just how critical discipleship is for your life, both as one who disciples and one who is to be discipled. As disciples, we must remember, 1) We are called, 2) We believe, and 3) We disciple.
Text: Romans 10:13-15Speaker: Sam ShinDate: September 9, 2019'
