Buffering

Do you find yourself in the pantry, the freezer, or grabbing a glass of wine everyday around 4 pm? You know it’s not good for you, but it also feels like the only option when you are so worn out from your day.  You deserve it right? Deep down you really want to stop, because you know it’s not helping in your cause to take off those last 10 pounds. In the coaching world, we talk about this as buffering.  Using a false pleasure to feel different then you currently do. It’s a fabulous avoidance tactic.  Except in the long run. It doesn’t foster wellbeing. It keeps us from fully experiencing what we are capable of. The solution is to stop.  To give up the false pleasures.  To instead allow all the feelings.
