Refiner's Fire

b'When my wife was a teenager, she daily experienced a "great trauma" at the hands of her father. Every morning he would come in her room, rip off the covers, turn on the lights, and open wide the window shades. There was nothing peaceful about waking up this way. I have tried this technique with my own children. It usually results in VERY grumpy attitudes for the day. Have you ever had an experience like that? Have you ever been in a totally dark room, and walked into the bright sunlight? Because the eyes have not yet had a chance to adjust, the light is blinding. When I wake my kids up this way, they groan, "Daddy! Its too bright! I can\'t stand it!" Malachi 3:2 speaks of the appearing of the Lord like that. "Who can stand it?" That is an apt description for a Holy God. On Sunday, we are going to see how its true. You and I cannot stand His presence. But that is why He is working as a refining fire in our lives. This week, we are going to be encouraged, because we will begin to see the great ways that His refining fire is at work in our lives. As always, I can\'t wait to see you Sunday! P.Dave'
