Redeeming The Time

b'A few months back, I was asking a friend of mine if he could give me a hand on a particular home improvement chore. I said: "Hey, do you think you could spare a couple of hours? I know you\'re busy and all..." For some reason, his response really struck me. He said: "Everyone is busy. We have to make time to do the important things. And, friendships are important." I really chewed on that comment - "We have to make time..." It\'s true. In our culture, it seems like everyone is busy. In fact, busy-ness is almost a badge of honor. Everyone is busy. So, how do we really make time for the important things? How do we make time for God? If you\'re like me, you\'ve probably thought: "God, I want to be more of a disciple, but I just can\'t seem to find the time!" Last week, we launched our series "Commuter Church" by discussing the kind of church we DO NOT want to be. Over the course of the next three weeks, we\'re going to discuss the kind of church we DO want to be. And, we\'re going to start with a discussion about "time." When our lives are already full, how can we find time to learn to be a follower of Jesus? This Sunday, I think you\'ll be encouraged that the answer is NOT simply to become busier. God has a better plan that that! As always, I really can\'t wait to see you on Sunday. P. Dave'
