Investing in Eternity (Matthew 6)

b'This week, I almost titled the blurb: "I\'m Not Telling You What I\'m Talking About on Sunday." You see, a common notion in the church is that any time you talk about money, people don\'t come. Most people are sick and tired of being hit up for money. Fundraisers are EVERYWHERE. It seems like EVERYONE wants a piece of my money. This is why many pastors tend to do one of two things: 1) Avoid talking about money at all, or 2) Only talk about why you should give money to the church. The problem with those two approaches to discussing money is that both of them miss the point. People either talk, or don\'t talk, about where you should give a portion of your money. But no one is talking about how or why you should spend money. How should a follower of Jesus spend his or her money? Money can be used by God in powerful ways. But, it can also wreak havoc on individuals, families, and marriages. As we press forward in our series "Commuter Church," this week we\'ll be talking about money - how, why, and where we should use it in order to bring maximum joy to our lives, and maximum glory to God. And, I promise, we won\'t pass the offering baskets an extra time, or guilt you into giving more money. What I will do, is help you to understand how a follower of Jesus should think about money. As always, I can\'t wait to see you Sunday. P. Dave'
