Everything Is Different (John 20:24-31)

b'"Don\'t hold on to me!" Those were the words of the newly risen Jesus to Mary Magdalene -- one of His faithful followers. It seems like an odd thing to say, doesn\'t it? I would think that Jesus would have LOVED to have embraced His faithful follower at that particular moment. Death was defeated. Sin was forgiven. Jesus had the victory of life. Let us celebrate with hugs! Most certainly, Mary didn\'t understand all the theological implications of the resurrection. She simply understood that her master, who she thought was gone, was alive and with her again. She thought everything could go back to the way it was. "Let me just hold on to Him," she thought. But, things couldn\'t go back to the way they were. Jesus\' death and resurrection had changed everything. You and I don\'t often realize how much like Mary Magdalene we are. Jesus has changed EVERYTHING about this world and the way we live. But we don\'t even realize it. We want to hold on to something else. This Sunday is Easter Sunday. I love this Sunday because it\'s great to have the whole family gathered together to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. And, this Easter, we\'re going to open up to John 20 and see that the resurrection of Jesus should change everything about the way we think and live in this world. I can\'t wait to see you then! P.
