Ep. 053 - Life Stinks (1991)

Published: May 24, 2021, noon

In the post Reagan era, an era that produced a Wall Street persona, as well as films such as Trading Places and Brewster’s Millions, Mel Brooks’ Life Stinks looks to tackle both the struggle of the less fortunate, as well as the flaw in American capitalism and the way in which the rich play games with their fortune, much to the disadvantage of the poorer populations in America. Join the vulgarians Jason, Paco and Terry as they pick apart the nuances, as well as the flaws that an auteur such as Mel Brooks seeks in helming one of his more earnest projects. In this case, Brooks definitely tries, but he might have done better with just sending a telegram. Maybe write to your congressperson? *shrug emoji*
