Last summer, Neuralink founder Elon Musk presented the first version of Neuralink's Brain-Computer Interface, by showcasing several healthy pigs which had the Neuralink's chip implanted inside their brain. In the future, Brain-Computer Interfaces might not just treat hearing or vision problems, or diseases caused by dysfunction of the brain's motoric or nervous system like ALS or Parkinson, but also enable us to control external devices with our brain and even communicate via thoughts. After FDA approval and further safety testing, Neuralink is predicted to start with human trials in 2021, potentially paving the way towards upgrading our species' capabilities to interact with Artificial Intelligence and each other.
