b'Have you ever wondered what David\\u2019s older brothers did while he fought Goliath? While the Bible doesn\\u2019t tell us, can you imagine a conversation between two of them? \\n\\xe2\\u20ac\\u0153Guess who volunteered to fight Goliath?\\xe2\\u20ac\\x9d Shammah ran up the hill to his older brother.\\n\\xe2\\u20ac\\u0153Who would be that crazy? Did you see how big that guy is?\\u201dEliab scoffed. \\n\\xe2\\u20ac\\u0153Our little brother David,\\xe2\\u20ac\\x9d Shammah replied.\\n\\xe2\\u20ac\\u0153What! All he knows how to do is take care of a few sheep. He doesn\\u2019t know anything about fighting or being a soldier.\\xe2\\u20ac\\x9d\\n\\xe2\\u20ac\\u0153David killed a lion and a bear once when they were attacking Dad\\u2019s sheep,\\xe2\\u20ac\\x9d said Shammah.\\nEliab turned angry. \\xe2\\u20ac\\u0153That lion and bear didn\\u2019t have swords or armor. This is different.\\xe2\\u20ac\\x9d\\n\\xe2\\u20ac\\u0153Well,\\xe2\\u20ac\\x9d Shammah said quietly, \\xe2\\u20ac\\u0153David does seem to be close to God\\u2026\\xe2\\u20ac\\x9d\\n\\xe2\\u20ac\\u0153This is real life!\\xe2\\u20ac\\x9d Eliab glared at his brother. \\xe2\\u20ac\\u0153Goliath is going to kill David, and we and our families are going to be enslaved by the Philistines. We have to talk David out of this.\\xe2\\u20ac\\x9d\\n\\xe2\\u20ac\\u0153Too late, look!\\xe2\\u20ac\\x9d Shammah pointed into the valley. \\xe2\\u20ac\\u0153That\\u2019s David going out to fight.\\xe2\\u20ac\\x9d \\n\\xe2\\u20ac\\u0153Oh no.\\xe2\\u20ac\\x9d Eliab froze.\\nShammah watched David closely. \\xe2\\u20ac\\u0153He does look brave, doesn\\u2019t he?\\xe2\\u20ac\\x9d\\n\\xe2\\u20ac\\u0153Brave men die as quickly as cowards. And look, he only has his staff and his sling.\\xe2\\u20ac\\x9d \\nShammah ignored his older brother. \\xe2\\u20ac\\u0153Look, he\\u2019s picking up some stones from the creek.\\xe2\\u20ac\\x9d\\n\\xe2\\u20ac\\u0153What are we going to tell Dad?\\xe2\\u20ac\\x9d Eliab moaned.\\n\\xe2\\u20ac\\u0153Shh\\u2026David and Goliath are talking.\\xe2\\u20ac\\x9d Shammah strained to hear.\\nDavid\\u2019s young voice echoed over the valley. \\xe2\\u20ac\\u0153You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty\\u2026\\xe2\\u20ac\\x9d \\nShammah exclaimed, \\xe2\\u20ac\\u0153Do you think our God could really be more powerful than all the Philistine gods?\\xe2\\u20ac\\x9d Then Goliath moved forward to attack, but David ran toward the battle line, slipped a stone into his sling, and let it fly\\u2026Goliath jerked his head back, then fell to the ground, dead.
