How to Handle Temptation

b'We’ve all been let down by other humans. Maybe someone close to you suddenly became distant. Maybe someone failed to be there when you needed them.
The situations are different for each one of us, but one thing is sure: as humans broken by sin, we’re going to fail each other.
When we’re hurt by those who are important to us, it can be hard to trust anybody and to hold on to hope. We see adark future in front of us. We worry about who is going to be the next person to fail us.
But, in Christ, we have someone we can put our trust and hope in: Jesus is the one human who is never going to let us down. Why? Because, while He is fully human, He is also fully God, who never fails (Psalm 36:5; John 1:1-14; Philippians 2:5-11).
As we struggle in this broken world filled with unfaithfulness, we can know God is with us. He is with us in those brokenhearted moments (Psalm 34:18; Matthew 28:20). Christ suffered the ultimate brokenhearted moment of unjust suffering on the cross (1 Peter 2:19-25). In Him and His work, we find wholeness and hope because He has kept His promise to save (Romans 8:18-25). Since He died for us, we know His love never fails and He is always faithful (Romans 5:8; 8:38-39). • Emily Acker
• Who has failed you in your life?
• Does God feel distant because of the way other humans have hurt you?
• What promises from today’s devotion give you the most hope and comfort?
• Have you put your faith in Jesus, the faithful One?
