b'We can serve God in many different ways\\u2014in our families, at church, at\\nschool, and beyond. But sometimes, we can get discouraged when we feel like\\nour service is not appreciated. We might feel like the prophet Isaiah when\\nhe said, \\u201cBut my work seems so useless! I have spent my strength for\\nnothing and to no purpose\\u201d (Isaiah 49:4). For instance, we might help\\nsomeone in need and never hear a \\u201cthank you\\u201d from them. I know a young man\\nwho helps an elderly lady, but she never seems to voice appreciation;\\ninstead, her words sound more like complaining, and this has been so\\ndiscouraging to him. There have been times when we\\u2019ve tried to encourage\\nothers to come out of sin, to be committed to God, and to come to\\nchurch\\u2026but we haven\\u2019t seen results, at least not right away, and this has\\nalso been so discouraging. In situations like these, we sometimes think\\nthat God Himself does not appreciate our service, so we feel like giving up\\nbecause it seems all our efforts are being wasted. But God takes notice of\\neverything we do for Him. Going back to Isaiah 49, after Isaiah complained\\nof having labored in vain, he said, \\u201cYet I leave it all in the LORD\\u2019s hand;\\nI will trust God for my reward\\u201d (verse 4). The words of Jesus in Mark 9:41\\nare similar; Jesus says that a person who gives just a cup of water to one\\nof His followers will not lose their reward. We can continue doing the\\nLord\\u2019s work\\u2014and not give up\\u2014as we remember that every little thing we do\\nfor Him matters, as it says in 1 Corinthians 15:58, \\u201cnothing you do for the\\nLord is ever useless.\\u201d So let us be encouraged that our labor in the Lord\\nis not in vain, even when things don\\u2019t seem to be going right every time we\\nserve, because God takes notice of everything we do for Him. \\u2022 Enid Adah\\nNyinomujuni \\u2022 Have you ever tried to serve others, but it didn\\u2019t seem to be\\ndoing any good? \\u2022 When you\\u2019re feeling discouraged, how could it be helpful\\nto remember that God appreciates your hard work, even when others don\\u2019t?\\nFor God is not unjust.
