Louis Crane, a mathematician from Kansas State University, recently authored a study saying that scientists could use gamma telescopes to find "advanced alien civilisations".\xa0 He believes that aliens \u2013 given their superior technology \u2013 are using Hawking radiation from black holes to power their spaceships.\xa0 Crane states that scientists should start tracking objects operating on this technology \u2013 which could be used by aliens.\xa0 They are hotter than any other natural object and emit huge amounts of particles and gamma rays due to their interaction with black holes.\xa0 This could power the ship and bring its acceleration close to the speed of light. Crane told Universe Today: "An advanced civilization would want to harness a microscopic black hole because it could throw in matter and get out energy.\xa0 "It would be the ultimate energy source.
