China's Moon Lander Just Entered Lunar Orbit Article link: https://futurism.com/moon-lander-china-lunar-orbit Early Wednesday morning, the spacecraft carrying the Chang\u2019e-4 lander completed its journey from the Earth, which took nearly five days, and settled into an elliptical orbit around the Moon. If the mission is successful, Chang\u2019e-4 will be the\xa0first-ever lander\xa0to explore the so-called \u201cdark side of the Moon.\u201d It\u2019ll rove the lunar surface, examine the Moon\u2019s composition, and even dabble in amateur gardening with a small pod that\u2019ll grow seeds and silkworm larvae. Chinese officials haven\u2019t announced a firm date or location for the craft\u2019s landing, but it\u2019s expected to touch down in early January 2019, probably in the\xa0spacious Von K\xe1rm\xe1n crater.
