The theme this week is bad fathers. We wander through the New (old) West with Wim Wenders' Paris, Texas (1984). His hyper-focused tale of one man's struggle with what it means to be a father has a lot to say about how hard it is to actually care about another person. Tokyo Sonata (2008) gives us a quiet (but never boring) look inside gender roles, family dynamics and shame in Japanese culture. Matt is troubled by abusive police; Adam is impressed by how many people read.\\xa0

Next week we head back in time for Classic Noir: Double Indemnity (1944) and Detour (1945)....Troublesome dames!
