In honor of Black History Month, our theme is civil rights films. Mississippi Burning (1988) is based on the true story of the murder of 3 civil rights activists in 1964 and how the FBI solved the case. It seemed a little dated and could have used more from the Black experience, but it still holds up as a good historical piece. HBO's Judas and the Black Messiah (2021) is the story about the last few months of the life of Fred Hampton, the leader of Chicago's Black Panthers. An excellent film that we both wished was longer. If Daniel Kaluuya is not nominated for Best Actor, it will be a travesty.\\xa0

Next show, more Black History Month with In the Heat of the Night (1967) and All the Way (2016).\\xa0
