No real theme this week except that Matt wanted Adam to watch two movies that he loves. Out of the Past features a great performance by Robert Mitchum - come on, who wears a trench coat better? But, he has nothing on those duplicitous dames. A young Kirk Douglas is a gangster with a no kill policy. Who is the better hardboiled dick - Mitchum or Bogart? A Face in the Crowd is the most relevant movie you have never heard of. Andy Griffith, yes Mr. Mayberry, plays a maniacal populist enamored by the love of his supporters while secretly disliking them. Nope, not familiar at all. With a mix of humor and darkness, this movie says a lot about modern America.
