Currently seen, along with Danny McBride and John Goodman, in the Sunday night HBO series The Righteous Gemstones, James also has a direct line to the history of television: His great-uncle Allen DuMont created the cathode ray tube, the picture tube that not only made television sets possible, but ushered in the entire industry of television itself—including the short-lived DuMont television network, the often forgotten “fourth network” that first made Jackie Gleason a star during the Golden Age of Television.
