\n\nNo, not loving ourselves in spite of our failings\nBut loving the brokenness itself\n
\n\nWe have to love all the ways we\u2019re late\nAnd all the ways we missed the point\n
\n\nWe have to love that we were scared\nAnd that we were ashamed to say it\n
\n\nWe have to love that we didn\u2019t get it all done\nAnd love that we imagined it was doable in the first place\n
\n\nWe have to love that we\u2019re such a glorious mess\nAnd how we struggle to meet our own standards\n
\n\nWe have to learn to love, in short,\nall the ways we fall short\n
\n\nBecause our grace, courage and capacity to stand\nOur care of what\u2019s broken in the world around us\n
\n\nIs strongest when we\u2019re carried\nby that which we\u2019ve learned to cherish\n
\n\nAnd not when we\u2019re mired\nin that which we\u2019ve chosen to hate.
