Mahershala Ali\\xa0will play the lead role of detective Wayne Hays, while\\xa0Stephen Dorff\\xa0will play his partner detective Roland West. The season marks show creator Nic Pizzolatto\'s directorial debut.\\xa0Jeremy Saulnier\\xa0and\\xa0Daniel Sackheim will share in director duties.

Pizzolatto also serves as the showrunner and sole writer of the season, with the exception of the fourth and sixth episode, which he co-wrote with\\xa0David Milch\\xa0and Graham Gordy.
